Generations of Eco-Friendly Enthusiasts

We’re a band of health-conscious lawn specialists and parents shaping nature’s ingredients into sustainable formulas. Also, we’re kind of obsessed with hearing our clients tell us their lawn has never looked better.

Nick is a scientist and diagnosed my lawn the right way the first time and treated it accordingly.
“We switched from another company because they kept giving us the run-around and haven’t looked back since. The results alone were worth the switch and the customer service is the icing on the cake. A+.”

I am amazed with My Organic Turf.
“I am a bit of a crazy person about my lawn, and Nick has answered my texts several times, even early in the morning or late at night when I have things on my mind and have the time to get things done. I am so thankful for his overwhelming positive attitude and energy to help make my lawn as beautiful as I want it to be.”

Who We Are & What We Do

My Organic Turf is South Tampa’s go-to expert team for sustainable lawn care, pest control, and weed control rooted in organic principles — for a better-looking lawn that’s better for your family, your pets, and the planet.

Our goal is to improve our communities and protect our watersheds and soils from toxic fertilizers. As a result, we’re proud to say that our proprietary blends of fertilizers don’t cause environmental pollution like other fertilizer application services.

Our team blends chemistry with innovation to create safe, effective formulas that help homeowners and businesses have better lawns and gardens. Above all, we’re unwavering in our commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability.

Our Story

Deep Roots in Agriculture

Our Founder and co-owner Nick Bissett not only spent his childhood days playing in his mom’s garden in Yorkshire, but he also spent many months each summer working on his late grandfather’s farm in Ireland.

His grandfather, John Bissett, affectionately referred to as “Big Rock” was known throughout Rush County Dublin for his horticulture principles and unique market gardening techniques. Nick literally learned from one of the masters.

As a kid, he complained about having to spend hours outside helping his grandfather, but little did he know it would play a big role in shaping his future.

My Organic Turf is born

Decades later, Nick continued what his grandfather had begun. As a father of two girls, Nick simply didn’t believe in exposing his kids and pets to harmful chemicals in the name of having a great-looking lawn. He knew there had to be a better way. So, he started brewing his own compost tea in his garage. Not long after, he met co-owner, Eric McCarthy, by chance and the two decided to team up. The My Organic Turf revolution was born.

We might have had humble beginnings, but over the years, our team has expanded. And we’ve continued to explore and test dozens of natural formulations in search of the best formulas for fertilizer, weed, and pest control.

We decided that as scientists, parents, and humans, it was our responsibility to use our collective experience to create, once and for all, a non-toxic all-organic fertilizer program that’s safe, effective, and good for the environment. We’ve already seen tremendous growth as more and more people support the mission for sustainable lawn care. Still, we continue to push the needle every day.

Over the years, we’ve moved from Nick’s garage to a 15,000-square foot warehouse, but we still have the same mission: to invest in the planet and leave it better than we found it.

Nick’s philosophy is this: If you have a lawn, you’re a farmer. Our team’s goal is to help you understand how to take care of your lawn from that unique viewpoint. We take time to help you understand the different components of lawn care and sustainably implement them throughout the seasons in Florida.

Our roots may be in agricultural practices, but the heart of what we do today is about investing in the planet.

Nicholas Bissett

CEO & Founder

Nick basically grew up in his mother’s garden in Yorkshire and had the love and value for plants instilled in him from childhood. But his passion for sustainable crop care started with compost tea.

In college, Nick helped make homemade compost tea on a farm and learned how to provide crops with proper micro and macronutrients. After years of working in corporate America, he started getting fed up with not only his job but also with the lawn care industry that seemed hell-bent on destroying the environment.

Nick saw the massive need for organic lawn care, so he left his job and went back to making compost tea, now in his garage. And after meeting fellow lawn enthusiast and business partner Eric, it was off to the races.

Eric McCarthy

Co-owner

Eric’s been involved in lawn care from a young age — 12 to be exact when he started mowing lawns to make extra cash. After college, he spent years in different facets of the lawn maintenance industry while working for a landscape company. He eats, sleeps, and breathes macro and micronutrients and studies sprinkler best practices for fun.

By chance, Eric met Nick and they decided to join forces. Together, they’ve been helping protect our state’s environment, one lawn at a time.

How Can We Help You?

Our treatment plans give your lawn that magazine-worthy look  — without ever flooding your turf with harsh chemicals. We practice targeted applications using organic fertilizer, so we’re treating the source of the issues and not just the symptoms

Our targeted pest control methods ensure that only pests are getting affected by our treatments — not your garden, kids’ toys, or pool. Our organic pesticide formulas control and repel mosquitos, fleas, and ticks for up to 21 days.

Much like your lawn, palms, oaks, and other Florida trees need ongoing fertilization and preventive care to stay strong and healthy. Our tree and palm fertilizer is made using a blend of organic ingredients, essential micronutrients, amino acids, and vitamins.
